Message When I got my car, I brought her to the Nissan dealer simply to get a general inspection. My main goal was to put another set of trained eyes on the car to compare notes between what they found and what I thought needed attention.
Well, they came up with: Timing Belt Change, Power Steering Pump, Steering Rack, PS Hoses, and a few other miscellaneous items for an estimated grand total of over $9k. The Technician that looked at the car went on to tell me that the car was in really bad shape and that I should get rid of it.
I paid them the $60 inspection fee, brought the Z back to my garage, and did the things they suggested (plus much more) and only spent around $2k.
I didn't shortcut anything and I know the work was done right.
My Z has been a dependable machine for me.
There's enough information and support on this site to guide you through any repair on the Z.
Don't let anyone discourage you.
If you like the car, do the repairs and enjoy her!
That's my opinion.
